Internship Work…

As part of my internship for Crystal Padmore I have to help with photo shoots, I recently created these two mood boards to assist with inspiration for the makeup, styling, and poses of the model. For the makeup I felt that a strong eye was necessary, the gold foiling was my favourite. I scanned images in from magazines such as i-D and also researched on the internet on websites including style.com and vogue.co.uk. For the styling and poses I felt the soft floaty stances were the most suitable as the brand’s aim is to reflect the beauty of nature.

“The Caravan”

I found online shop ‘The Caravan’ whilst browsing the internet. It stocks beautiful vintage clothing, eyewear and accessories.

http://www.shopthecaravan.com/

The following looks are two of my favourite from the website…

I love this yellow jumper and shorts combo. The pastel yellow is a perfect example of the beauty of this season’s pastel shades.

The website gives small styling tips on all their items, the tip for this jumper is ‘accessorize up with a peter pan collar and perfect colour blocks with other pastel pieces’.

Love the bright mood to this whole photo. The bright background brings out the optimism of the eye-catching colour blocking pieces. The Caravan’s styling tip - ‘the always sunny turtleneck top is the perfect base for colour block perfection’

Love all the clothes so much! Just a shame they all seem to be available only in extra small and small :(

Stylist - Sara Wilson.

As I said on a previous post, I recently watched ‘New Look Style the Nation’ on 4OD again. I loved the series and thought that it would be beneficial for me to email the winner, Sara Wilson, and ask her a few questions about her work. I thought with her being so busy now that she might not be able to reply, but to my delight she replied within a few days! How nice :)

How was it working for New Look and Barbara Horspool?

“Barbara is an absolute dream to work for. She is a fountain of fashion knowledge and has been a great mentor for me. The most essential thing to someones career is to learn from the best when starting out and I have been extremely blessed with my industry experience, Barbara being an important part of this”.

Have you worked with any of the other contestants doing any styling work since the show?

“I have worked with Charlene on a KTZ Catwalk show (SS12) and I have worked with Rae assisting at Wonderland Magazine. I still keep in touch with all of them and love it that I have stayed good friends with them as well as the rest of the cast”.

What did you do when your work experience was over at New Look?

“I am still there :)”.

Have you worked with any celebrities?

“I’ve worked with a few yes. It is hard to avoid when you are a stylist”.

What do you do now on a day to day work basis?

“Everyday is different. I could be model casting, researching, working on trend prediction or working with the social media team. If it is a shoot day then I will be on set doing my thing with my pins!!!”

Any tips for getting in to the fashion industry?

“Assist Assist Assist. Never give up and focus!!”.

I really love Sara’s style and can’t thank her enough for getting back to me.

Great advice at the end to never give up - I certainly won’t!
