Since my airbrushing Photoshop session with uni last week, I have become a little obsessed haha. So much so, that I am doing it in my free time! Here’s one of Pete Doherty. The bad one is at the top (obviously) and the one I have edited is at the bottom - I couldn’t quite get his teeth to look realistic, but it’s almost there. It’s amazing what airbrushing can do!

1980’s Fabrics and Patterns from the book ‘1980s Fashion Print’ by Marnie Fogg.

Top: Intervall, a screen printed cotton furnishing fabric from the ‘Play’ collection, inspired by the performances given by the Swedish ballet in Paris in the 1920s. Designed by Susanne Grundell and printed by Boras Wafveri for Tio-Gruppen, 1980.

Middle left: A Furphy Simpson print for the British designer Katherine Hamnett, for spring/summer 1983. The design was created using cut paper positioned over brushstrokes.

Middle right: In this five-colour print by Liberty for the French designer Yves Saint Laurent, torn edges of collaged paper describe naive silhouettes of large daisies. The white background separates the solid areas of colour, keeping the design crisp and fresh.

Bottom: ‘Pow’, from the ‘Wave’ collection by Alexander Henry Fabrics.

Another assignment handed in!

Above are three trend boards - Digitalization, Craft Revolution and Shabby-Chic.

I predicted these trends through analysis of culture, interiors, architecture, media, art, illustration, fashion etc etc.

I have learnt that to predict trends you must broaden your research, and not just look at clothing trends.

The images on the boards are from a variety of sources - Magazines: Icon, Surface, View, Tank, Hunger, Company, Elle Decoration, Plastic Dreams. Internet: WGSN, The Independent, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Google Images.
